Shopify speed & Core Web Vitals

Your store is slow on mobile. I make it fast.

Shoppers on a phone don't wait. I find what's slowing your Shopify store down (apps, scripts, images, theme code), fix it, and show you the PageSpeed score before and after.

The problem

A slow store costs you sales every day

Most of your visitors shop on a phone, often on a weak connection. Every extra second gives them a reason to leave.

  • Fewer orders

In Deloitte's “Milliseconds Make Millions” study (2020), a 0.1-second faster mobile site lifted retail conversions by 8.4%. Speed works the other way too: slow pages lose sales quietly.

  • Wasted ad spend

You pay for every click from Meta or Google. If the product page is slow to show up, part of that budget leaves before seeing anything.

  • Higher bounce rate

A blank screen or a page that jumps around, and the visitor hits back. It shows up in your analytics as bounce rate, with no clear reason why.

  • A handicap on Google

Core Web Vitals are part of Google's page experience signals. They won't replace good content, but a slow store hands an edge to your competitors.

Core Web Vitals

Three numbers, in plain words

Google measures three things on real visitors' phones. Your store passes when at least 75% of visits reach the “good” mark.

  • LCP: How fast your main content shows

Largest Contentful Paint: the time until the biggest element, usually your hero image or product photo, appears. Good: 2.5 seconds or less.

  • INP: How fast the page reacts

Interaction to Next Paint: the delay between a tap (add to cart, open the menu, pick a size) and the screen responding. Good: 200 ms or less.

  • CLS: How much the page jumps

Cumulative Layout Shift: content moving while the page loads, the reason shoppers tap the wrong button. Good: 0.1 or less.

Typical causes

Why Shopify stores get slow

It's rarely one big problem. It's years of small additions.

  • Too many apps

Reviews, upsells, pop-ups: each app loads its own scripts on every page, often even where it isn't used.

  • Leftover code

Uninstalled apps often leave code in your theme. It keeps loading long after you stopped paying for the app.

  • Render-blocking scripts

Tracking pixels, chat widgets and fonts that load before your content, so the shopper stares at a blank screen.

  • Heavy images

Oversized photos, images without set dimensions, and sliders that load five images to show one.

  • Tired theme code

Unused CSS and JavaScript, an ageing theme, and customisations stacked on top of each other over the years.

What I do

What I measure and fix

What I measure

  • Mobile and desktop PageSpeed scores on your home, collection and product pages
  • LCP, INP and CLS, from lab tests and from real-visitor data (Chrome UX Report) when your traffic allows it
  • The weight and cost of every app and third-party script
  • Image sizes, formats and loading order

What I fix

  • Remove or delay scripts that block the page
  • Clean out code left behind by old apps
  • Resize, compress and lazy-load images, and load the main image first
  • Stop layout shifts by reserving space for images, banners and fonts
  • Faster taps: lighter JavaScript on product pages and the cart
  • A before/after report with the scores and every change made

How it works

Four steps, no surprises

  1. Free mini-audit

Send your store URL. I test it and reply with the main problems I found and what fixing them involves.

  2. Quote

A fixed price and a clear scope. You know exactly what will change before any work starts.

  3. Work

I work on a duplicate of your live theme. Your store keeps selling, and nothing changes for shoppers until you approve.

  4. Before/after report

You get the scores before and after, the list of changes, and what to watch from now on.

Score guarantee

If your mobile PageSpeed score doesn't improve by at least {GUARANTEE_MIN_POINTS} points, I refund {GUARANTEE_REFUND} of the price.

Why only after the audit: some slowness comes from things I can't change, like an app you need or Shopify's own scripts. The audit shows what can be fixed. I only offer the guarantee when it confirms there's a real gain to make.

FAQ

Questions merchants ask

Will my store go down while you work?

No. I work on a duplicate of your published theme. You review it, and it only goes live when you approve. Shoppers never see a half-finished store.

Can this hurt my SEO?

No. Your URLs, content and product data stay exactly the same. Faster pages and better Core Web Vitals can only help.

Will you remove my apps?

Only if you agree. I show you what each app costs in speed. Some can load later, or only on the pages that use them. Some can be replaced by a few lines of code, which is what the Speed Overhaul does. You decide.

How long does it take?

Usually 1 to 2 weeks for a Speed Fix and 2 to 4 weeks for a Speed Overhaul. Your quote gives you a firm date.

Will my design change?

No. Your theme and design stay as they are. I change how things load, not how they look. If something has to change visually, like a slider with ten images, I ask you first.

Will the store get slow again later?

New apps and new images can slow a store down again. The report lists what to watch. If you'd rather not think about it, Store Care checks your speed every month (see below).
